MICHAEL JACKSON: SPECULATIONS, LEGACY, RIP
When I first heard about the Michael Jackson comeback concert, I tough that the worst thing that would have happened would have been him breaking his back while performing and getting carried off stage on a gurney. I would have never though that it would have caused his death - directly/indirectly.
I still remember when he announced his comeback concert; I believe his last words were “I’ll see you in July.” We made to July - well most of us - but he didn’t since in June25th 2009 Michael Jackson died of cardiac arrest leaving behind canceled concerts, heartbroken and mourning fans, law suits, a mountain of debt and three children - or is it four?
If everything had gone according to plan, meaning if the guy hadn't died and performed all the scheduled concerts, we would have been filled with headline such as:
""This is it", the King of Pop Michael Jackson is back"
"Michael Jackson thru a series of 50 concerts in London proved that he's still got it"
"Michael Jackson comeback concerts a success"
"Michael Jackson talking about new albums"
In a dark/humorous side: "Angry parents want Shaheen Jafargholi's parents sued child endangerment" - I don't think that a return to fame would have made everything go away.
In the mean time, book publishers and movie studios are fighting over rights to publish/produce a biography of MJ - I'm still talking about Michael Jackson not Michael Jordan.
The thing that really makes me wonder about a MJ biopic is how many people will play the role of Michael Jackson and what race will he/they be? Rumors are that Omer Bhatti, supposedly MJ "love child" will portray the King Of Pop in an upcoming biopic.
One thing thought, considering the plastic surgery he had done on his face and the skin lightning, if the make up artist does a good job, he might be up for an Oscar.
When Elvis Presley died, people thought that there will never be anyone as famous as him. Then came Michael Jackson. So I guess it is safe to say that there will be another King in half a century or so from now, the question is, will you live to meet him?
Speaking of Elvis, many people enjoy impersonating the King Of Rock n Roll, especially in Las Vegas. Now I think that we can assume that people - of different races - will start impersonating Michael Jackson.
As much as it still feels untrue and unbelievable, on June 25th 2009, we had to say farewell to a man who had never been on the moon - he never even went to space - but brought us the moonwalk. Fans will get the chance to get a glimpse of what would have been the greatest comeback concert in music history thru the concert film "This is it" coming to theaters October 28th 2009.
